Most electric bass players are all too familiar with plugging directly into the PA and getting a flat, uninspiring sound from the speakers. The Stadium DI was designed by our bass-playing engineering team to solve that live-performance problem.

With a blend of traditional and truly unique sound-shaping controls, the Stadium DI gives you a full range of features to transform your signal into a deeply expressive bass tone that fits effortlessly into any live mix.

  • Growl control adds low end distortion for thickness and rich, harmonic content
  • Drive button pushes the Growl to a full overdrive
  • Comp EQ enhances the feel of playing while evening out your tone
  • Attack sweeps between a wide range of warmth, clarity, and everywhere in between
  • Fat switch boosts 150Hz +3dB or +6dB for a fuller, rounded tone
  • VU meter visually optimizes gain for passive and active pickups
  • All-discrete signal path with XLR and 1/4” outputs
  • 48V phantom power, 9V battery or 9V DC powering options
  • Pad boosts or cuts XLR out (-10dBV or +4dBu) to meet the needs of the PA
  • Ground lift switch effectively eliminates ground-loop noise
  • Rugged enclosure constructed of aluminum, steel, and ABS plastic
  • Includes custom Baggs carrying case

In the process of adapting studio mixing and mastering tools for our acoustic-series Session DI, our engineers took features like harmonic saturation and multiband compression and turned them into highly effective tone-shaping tools for live performance. They pushed these concepts even further when they reworked the same ideas for electric bass.

01.

Growl (Low-Frequency Saturation)

Unlike standard overdrives that distort the entire signal, this circuit isolates and saturates a specific low-frequency band. This introduces harmonic overtones that add warmth and grit without thinning out the fundamental note. Engage the Drive switch to expand the saturation across the full frequency spectrum.

02.

Comp-EQ (Multiband Compression/EQ)

Rather than using static equalization to make permanent cuts, this circuit utilizes three separate bands of dynamic tone-shaping. The Comp-EQ acts as a touch-sensitive equalizer that adapts in real time to your playing. Light playing remains uncompressed, while aggressive playing triggers targeted compression to smooth out problem frequencies, without flattening the overall performance dynamics.

03.

Attack (Adjustable String Presence)

This control focuses on the specific upper-midrange frequencies associated with string attack. Adjusting the control modifies the character of the note’s leading edge (or attack), allowing you to shift between a rounded, muted tone and a sharper, more defined attack without affecting the larger tonal response.

04.

Fat Switch (Round Tone On-Tap)

The specially tuned Fat switch boosts 150Hz by +3dB or +6dB for a fuller, rounded tone that fills out the mix without stepping on other instruments.

Stadium DI Reviews

“The whole thing is beautifully designed – elegant, efficient and about as far away from that tatty little passive DI box which the sound guy leaves on the floor by your amp as it’s possible to get.”
Kev Sanders - Bass Guitar Magazine
“While the controls are simple and effective, it’s the different combinations of features that really reveal the basic reason behind the Stadium’s engineering: to give bassists lots of great tonal options and “fixes” in a DI. Rather than traditional EQ control, I like the approach of using sweeps and presets.”
Premier Guitar
“I did some tracking with the Stadium DI in my studio and used it on a couple of gigs in lieu of my go-to Neve box. In both settings, I was wowed by the box’s transparent and noise-free output with the effects disengaged. I investigated the effects in my studio and was no less impressed by their depth, naturalness and flexibility.”
